I have had the good fortune and privilege to lead my country and serve the people of Pakistan for almost nine years. Since my retirement as President of Pakistan in August 2008, I have been keeping myself busy with a global lecture series. I have found this to be a stimulating experience as I get an opportunity to share my thoughts with audiences of different nationalities having diverse backgrounds. During these lectures, I allocate half the time or more for frank question and answer sessions, which afford me an opportunity to learn about the perspectives of my audience.
Besides the lectures, I find time to meet well wishers and friends. After many years of a regimented daily routine, I am able to spend quality time with my family. I also find time to play Golf, Tennis and Bridge.

I have a favourite blend of famous quotations and my own thoughts relating to decision-making. Firstly, Napoleon’s strategic decision making philosophy, that every decision is “two-thirds analysis, and one-third leap in the dark.” I feel trying to expand the two-thirds analysis leads to “paralysis through analysis” (Nixon’s quote), and expanding the one-third leap in the dark leads to recklessness, endangering oneself and others. Striking the right balance is the true art of decision making.
